NFT #1: Exoplanet 47 Ursae Majoris c
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are currently making waves in the art world. NFTs are unique digital assets tied to a blockchain.
Images, music, and other digital artworks are easy for anyone to copy unlimited times, which makes it difficult to attach value to them.
NFTs present a solution to this problem by allowing artists to create pieces with a digital signature to verify authenticity as the original piece.
This signature is part of a blockchain—a secure database technology that is publicly visible and unable to be changed by anyone.
This means buyers can purchase digital art with the confidence that the works will not lose value upon reproduction. The NFT is stored in their digital wallet and can be resold just like physical art.
It is important to note that digital art associated with NFTs can still be copied like any other digital media, but copying an image does not copy the underlying digital contract that validates the true ownership of the image.
We’ve minted this exclusively for our Matter Subscription Box customers. This is our first in a series of limited scientific NFTs.
Note: This NFT has become victim of this rapidly evolving digital space. The blockchain we minted upon has been altered and the marketplace we transferred through has been acquired & sunset. We are currently unable to access the remainder of the MTTR token. These are effectively burnt as we are cutoff from them. If you already hold a MTTR token, be aware that these are now quite rare.
This NFT is free for our Matter subscribers. If you are a subscriber, here's how to claim your free NFT.
- Create an Ethereum digital wallet if you don't already have one (Note: a Bitcoin address will not work). We recommend MetaMask since it is fast, secure, and integrates well with most blockchain apps.
- You may need to connect to the xDai blockchain network. Instructions to do that within MetaMask can be found here.
- Once you have created your wallet, email us the address (example: 0xd779cc874c70B3466419936CEeC9bA2Ff0C485f5). Don't worry, this is publicly visible and only you can access what is held at this address.
Due to the evolving NFT ecosystem, we no longer have access to distribute the MTTR token. We apologize for any inconvenience.
