Introducing Moonbeam Ruscus, the first in a collection of glowing flora.

For our most recent project with our resident scientists, Tyler Thrasher, we created glowing flora using our Europium glowing pigment after discussing whether bioluminescent houseplants could one day become a highly efficient method of providing indoor lighting—if only they could grow bright enough.

Remember in 2009 when so many people kept insisting that you absolutely had to go see the movie Avatar "because the colors are unreal"? 

In a similar but much more satisfying way, the results of our glowing flora process blew us away. It turned out even better than we expected, and honestly looks eerily mesmerizing in-person. 

The pale blue reminds us of the moonlight, providing a sole illuminating spectacle in a dark void.

Details:

• The pigment is non-toxic, however the ruscus plant is poisonous to cats, so keep it away and out of reach of nibblers.
• The whole piece is sealed in a waterproof UV protectant
• This is a cutting that has been bleached and preserved to last forever with no maintenance 
• The cutting is not a live specimen
• A single charge can produce a glow lasting up to 30 hours
• The glowing capability will not diminish over time
• Fast Charging: Just 2 minutes of sunlight produces a bright glow
• Maximum glow is 10x brighter than traditional glow-in-the-dark materials
• Low-light charging: Even LED lights can produce a bright glow

The plant is a species of ruscus, a hardy evergreen shrub that has delicate-looking leaves but is described as "tough as nails". Optional concrete block stand.

Available as a single ~6" stem or a full cluster (see images). Unfortunately we cannot ship this item to Australia or New Zealand.
