Coast Redwoods are species of evergreen trees in the genus Sequoia. They are the tallest living species of tree in the world and they can live well over 2,000 years. Redwoods can grow taller than the Statue of Liberty with trunks up to 9m (30ft) in diameter. The current tallest tree on Earth is a Redwood named Hyperion at 115m (380ft). Its location is kept secret to keep it safe. Redwood lumber is largely resistant to decay and redwoods are among the fastest growing trees.
